​앤갤러리는 2025년 3월 6일부터 4월 19일까지 프랑스를 대표하는 가구 브랜드 리네 로제(Ligne Roset), 이탈리아의 프리미엄 가구 브랜드 모로소(Moroso)와 협업하여 유럽의 컨템포러리 디자인 가구와 현대 미술의 만남을 선보이는 전시《Connect: Art and Design》을 개최한다. 이번 전시는 순수미술과 디자인이라는 서로 다른 분야의 언어와 미학이 융합하며 새롭게 재창조되는 일상의 공간과 라이프스타일에 대한 예술적 관점을 제시한다.

 

현 시대에서 예술과 디자인은 각각 고유한 목적과 특성을 지니며 독립적인 영역으로 존재하지만, 두 분야는 창의성과 미학이라는 공통된 핵심적 개념을 공유하며 깊이 연결되어 있다. 예술은 주로 감정과 철학적 세계를 탐구하며 창의적 표현을 통해 사유의 메시지를 전달하고, 디자인은 심미성과 기능성을 조화롭게 결합하여 사용자를 위한 창의적인 해결책을 제시한다. 두 분야는 모두 문화적, 사회적 시대의 흐름을 반영하며 각각의 방식으로 세상과의 소통을 위한 도구로 작용하고 인간의 삶과 세상의 변화를 위한 영감을 제공한다.

 

이번 전시에서 선보이는 프랑스 디자인의 거장 피에르 폴랑(Pierre Paulin)을 포함하여, 로낭&에르완 부훌렉(Ronan&Erwan Bouroullec), 미셸 듀카로이(Michel Ducaroy), Patricia Urquiola(파트리시아 우르퀴올라) 등의 세계적인 디자이너들과 전광영, 구자승, 신한철, 윤종석, 홍정우, 서희수, 백요섭, 오유경, 김홍식, 장 보고시안(Jean Boghossian), 바하티 시모엔스(Bahati Simoens) 작가 각자의 고유한 시각과 철학이 교차되는 지점의 네러티브가 예술과 디자인 사이의 경계를 허물고 일상에서의 예술적 감각을 환기시킨다.

 

본 전시에서 소개되는 가구 브랜드 리네 로제(Ligne Roset)는 1860년에 설립되어 세계적인 디자이너들과의 협업을 통해 독창적이고 세련된 디자인으로 주목받는 프랑스의 대표적인 명품 가구 브랜드이다. 리네 로제의 공동 CEO인 미셸 로제(Michel Roset)는 ‘리네 로제의 가구는 나무와 폼(Foam), 그 이상의 것이다’ 라고 말한다. 이는 가구가 단순한 물질적 제품을 넘어 심미성과 기능성, 감성적 경험이 결합된 예술 작품이라는 의미이며 창의성을 핵심 가치로 삼는 리네 로제의 디자인 철학을 나타낸다.

 

리네 로제와 함께 소개되는 이탈리아 가구 브랜드 모로소(Moroso)는 1952년에 설립되어 혁신적이고 예술적인 디자인으로 명성을 쌓아왔으며 ‘오뜨 꾸뛰르 가구’로도 알려져 있다. 모로소는 다양한 디자이너들과 협업하며 개성있는 디자인 컬렉션을 선보여 왔다. 모로소는 ‘관계와 상호작용을 통해 각 디자인과 각 제품은 보는 사람마다 다르게 해석되며 이는 우리가 세상을 경험하는 방식이 다르기 때문’이라고 말하며, 가구를 디자인하는 것은 삶을 포용하는 방식이자 세상을 바라보는 비전이라고 설명한다.

 

이번 전시는 순수미술과 디자인의 관념적인 경계를 허물고 각 영역의 미학적 창의성이 서로 상호작용하며 새롭게 창조되는 공간에서 일상 속의 예술을 경험할 수 있는 기회를 제공할 것이다.

N Gallery will present《Connect: Art and Design》from March 6 to April 19, 2025, in collaboration with Ligne Roset, one of France’s leading furniture brands, and Moroso, a premium Italian furniture brand. This exhibition will feature the fusion of contemporary European design furniture and modern art, offering an artistic perspective on the recreating of ordinary spaces and lifestyles through the merging of the distinct languages and aesthetics of fine art and design.

In today’s world, art and design each have unique purpose and characteristics, existing as independent fields. However, both fields are deeply connected through the shared core concepts of creativity and aesthetics. Art primarily explores emotions and philosophical realms, conveying messages through creative expression, while design harmoniously combines aesthetics and functionality to provide creative solutions for users. Both art and design reflect the cultural and social currents of the time, using as tools for communication with the world and providing inspiration for the evolution of human life and society.

This exhibition will feature works by renowned designers, including Pierre Paulin, a master of French design, as well as Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec, Michel Ducaroy, and Patricia Urquiola, among others. Alongside them, artists such as Chun Kwang Young, Chasoong Koo, Hanchul Shin, Jongseok Yoon, Jungwoo Hong, Heesu Suh, Joseph Baek, Youkyeong Oh, Hongshik Kim, Jean Boghossian, and Bahati Simoens will present their unique perspectives and philosophies. The narrative that emerges from the intersection of their individual approaches will blur the boundaries between art and design, awakening an artistic sensibility in our daily lives.

Ligne Roset, the French furniture brand introduced in this exhibition, was founded in 1860 and has become known for its innovative and sophisticated designs through collaborations with world-class designers. Michel Roset, the co-CEO of Ligne Roset, states, “A Ligne Roset chair or piece of furniture is always more than wood and foam.” This means that the furniture is not just a physical object, but a work of art that combines aesthetics, functionality, and emotional experience. It embodies Ligne Roset’s design philosophy, which values creativity at its core.

The Italian furniture brand Moroso, introduced alongside Ligne Roset, was founded in 1952 and has built a reputation for its innovative and artistic designs, also known as ‘haute couture furniture’. Moroso has collaborated with various designers to present a unique and distinctive collection of designs. The brand explains, “Through relationships and interactions, each design, each product is viewed differently by each beholder because it speaks to our different experiences of the world.”, emphasizing that designing furniture is a way of embracing life and offering a vision of the world.

This exhibition will redefine the conceptual boundaries between fine art and design, providing an opportunity to experience art in daily life within a newly created space where the aesthetic creativity of both fields interacts.
